Day 3 of Simply Filling — and not so Simply Filling

Well, here’s my photo food log for the day:

Breakfast was leftover chili from yesterday (don’t judge — I didn’t have time to make a breakfast!) and lunch was some grilled chicken and veggies.  I also shared an apple with my daughter, but I didn’t take a picture of that.

Where’s dinner, you ask?  Well, dangit….  Some friends had us over for dinner, and I had a feeling all day that they were going to serve some sort of carb-a-licious meal that was completely not Simply Filling…. and unfortunately my hunch was right on.  I didn’t get a picture of it, but dinner tonight was “spaghetti pie” — a big slab of spaghetti topped with ricotta cheese, meat sauce and of course an extra layer of melted cheese.  I was able to pass on the yummy garlic bread that kept being passed in front of my face, but there was just no way I could pass on the actual entree.  So I had spaghetti pie and salad for dinner tonight.

But wait.  It gets worse.

Our friends had asked my husband to bring his world-famous (seriously this stuff is freakin’ amazing) German Chocolate cake for dessert and not only did I have to smell that sucker all day long… but then I had to help cut it and serve it.  And I was weak.  I had a slice.  It was a super-thin, very tiny slice…. but it was still a slice.

GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

So mad at myself…. but oh well. What can I say?  I’m human.  And this is why I don’t like restrictive “diets,” but I really did want to try to follow this little experiment to the ‘T’ and I’ve already failed at Day THREE.   Ah well….  I’m not throwing in the towel or anything.  It was a little slip-up and I’m back on track tomorrow.

  1. It’s okay to treat yourself now and then. I know a woman that does simply filling during the week and not during the weekend, you have to do what works for you. It sounds like you used great judgement! Don’t be hard on yourself.

    • I’ll try not to be. That’s definitely one of my (many) huge faults. But I treated myself AGAIN tonight. *sigh* Still trying, though! Thanks for reading and commenting! It’s nice to know I have my cyber friends out there. 🙂

      • I tried simply filling for a week and was very successful on that plan. I hope it works out for you and I look forward to reading about your successes.
