A New Year — a Renewed Commitment

Wow I can’t believe it’s been almost six months since I last posted!  I’m not sure what’s been going on the past six months, but I just haven’t felt “inspired.”  Oh don’t worry… I haven’t totally fallen off the wagon.  I’ve been going through the motions — still working out and basically following the Weight Watchers plan — but my heart has not been into it.  At all.

Shortly after my last post, scheduling conflicts pushed me into switching from a ‘meetings’ Weight Watchers member to an online-only member.  I had a feeling that wasn’t going to be a good move for me, but it had to be done.  So for the past five months or so, I’ve been going at it on my own.  And up until this past month I managed to maintain my 188 pound weight.

Then the holidays came…. my birthday, Thanksgiving, a trip to Arkansas, Christmas and New Years…. bam bam bam bam BAM.  I stepped on the scale last week and almost cried when I saw 198 staring back at me.  Ten pounds up!!!!  TEN POUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!  And so close to 200 I could smell it!!

That was a super huge wake up call (and I’m happy to say as of last week I was down 3 — at 195).  I refuse to get any closer to that 200 mark!!!! I’m feeling so recommitted right now, and ready to rock it!

So here are my weight-loss-related goals for 2013:

1) Run a 5k. I mean actually RUN it.  The whole thing.

2)  Do at least 2 strength training workouts a week. (I’ve been slacking on this and my bat-wing arms are proof of that.)

3) Stick with Weight Watchers faithfully — tracking EVERYTHING.

4) Last but certainly not least —- Reach my goal weight of 155 (or whatever I end up feeling my goal weight should be)!

I lost 40 pounds last year, so I should have no problem losing 35-40 pounds again this year, right?  Stick with me.  I’m gonna do it!
